The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on October 01, 2026, issued circular on Addition of New Countries to the List of Permitted International Mobile Numbers in UPI.
NPCI has expanded the list of countries whose international mobile numbers can be linked to non-resident and other permissible accounts for onboarding and transactions through UPI. Following the earlier permission for 12 countries, international mobile numbers from 19 additional countries have now been included, with the consolidated list of permitted countries and corresponding country codes provided in Annexure I.
All existing compliance requirements and conditions prescribed under the earlier NPCI circulars and advisories will continue to apply to the newly added countries. Member banks and UPI Application Providers are required to take note of the expansion and make the necessary changes to their systems and processes.
